Hello everyone here at Little Gems. My name is Gemma and I’m so excited to begin my journey here with you all. I have been in the early years sector for around 20 years now and began as a trainee making my way through all roles from lead educator, educational leader and most recently assistant director. I have a passion for all play based learning but find my biggest strengths involve nature play, loose parts play and anything that involves critical thinking and being outdoors.
I am a city girl turned country after moving to Jimboomba two and a half years ago and love the laid back atmosphere of my new environment… especially now that I have room for my small (but growing) farm. I have a cheeky but adorable three year old, Teddy who is the light of my life who will be joining the Little Gems adventure with me, I’m not sure who is more excited, him or me. I can’t wait to meet you all and begin building special connections.

Hi my name is Tayla, I’ve been in the childcare industry for 5 years now & i enjoy every minute of it. I have so much passion when it comes to children & I believe i have this strong connection to them. I love seeing first hand all their achievements & milestones as they learn & grow. I can’t wait to get to know all the wonderful children & families here at Little Gems Jimboomba! When I’m not looking after your little ones, I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors. I love camping, jet skiing, beach days & the gym!

Hello! My name is Olivia, known as Liv. I am absolutely thrilled to kickstart my childcare career with Little Gems! I cannot wait to see their achievements and milestones they will reach! I am looking forward to building strong relationships with Little Gems kids & parents! I have recently bought a house in Flagstone with my husband and adopted 2 beautiful cats from the RSPCA. Their names are Garfield & Bella. My hobbies are playing piano and swimming. On the weekends I like to relax and watch my tv shows, although I do love the occasional sunset walk on the beach!

Hi, my name is Tiarna, I am so excited to be given the opportunity to start my childcare career studying my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I have always been passionate in working with children and watching them learn and grow. I continuously put in the effort to build connections and ensure that children are comfortable, safe and happy in a positive and caring environment. I love spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach and am a passionate volleyball athlete, recently playing in a tournament in Hawaii. I love teaching children new skills and seeing them grow, develop and thrive. I am so excited to expand my skills and learn more about childcare and join the Little Gems family.

I have been working within the childcare sector since 2018, recently completing my diploma. I enjoy working with all ages, encouraging them to explore & exceed in their own personal strengths to become the best versions of themselves. While creating those memorable moments with your children, I enjoy engaging in messy play. As I embark on the greatest adventure, becoming a first time mum, I hope to create beautiful & meaningful relationships with you all! Outside of work I enjoy listening to country music, exploring new places with my partner & hanging out with family and friends. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Hello! My name is Scarlett. I am so excited to join the little Gems team! I have a Certificate3 in Early Childhood and care, now I am studying my Diploma. I am Originally from China,  I had the privilege of being an English teacher in China and a Chinese Language teacher in Australia, where I honed my skills in effective communication and creating engaging learning experience. As a mother of 3 wonderful children, I understand the significance of early childhood education in shaping a child’s growth and development. As an educator, I feel so lucky to witness the spark of curiosity and the joy of learning in your beautiful little ones. Apart from my educational background, I have a love for art
and drawing. I believe that creativity is a powerful tool for nurturing a child’s imagination and self-expression. One of my other passions is traveling when I have the opportunity. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Hello, My name is Leah and I have been working in the Child Care and Education sector since 2001, in both Queensland and New South Wales, within Child Care Centres and as a Private Nanny and hold my Diploma in Children’s Services. When I am not working I enjoy going on Road Trips, Camping, Music – listening to and watching LIVE, Photography, and spending time with friends. In relation to children’s education and care, I believe: That children have the right to learn in a safe, secure, and supportive environment to become independent, resilient, and have the capability to interact positively with others. In the importance of children feeling a sense of belonging within the Centre, that children become aware of, and contribute to, the importance of showing respect for their environment, peers, and educators. In children becoming strong in their social and emotional well-being, and taking responsibility for their own health and well-being. In children learning through curiosity and imaginative play to develop problem solving skills, adapting things from outside the Centre to their play in care, by connecting positively with peers and educators. That children’s verbal and non-verbal communication is important to be acknowledged equally as their form of expressing feelings and ideas. That all children are individual, and such are treated as individuals. Children learn through play, and to help achieve this, I aim to provide a safe and stimulating environment that is age appropriate. Play based learning is developed through child initiated and educator activities, where experiences are extended upon appropriately to further develop the children’s interests and skills. In providing a flexible routine for children to grow, learn, and explore their environment. That supporting families and having continuous communication is important to remain up to date with family affairs, changes to circumstances, and development issues that families wish to address.

Hi, my name is Gemma and I have been working in childcare since September 2022. I have a loveable fluffy dog and 2 siblings, an older brother and younger sister. I love spending time with the people I love and I love all things nature, especially the beach. I love working with kids and I continuously put in the effort to build connections and ensure that children are comfortable, safe and happy. I understand how important kids physical, social and emotional health is and will always try my best to ensure their needs are met. Since my first day working in childcare I knew it was something I was passionate about and building strong relationships and helping kids learn and grow is honestly one of the best and most accomplishing feelings I’ve felt. I believe that children learn best from exploring, creating, engaging and trying new things and I enjoy sharing all these moments with them.

My name is Cass, I began in childcare in 1992 with a dream of nurturing little hearts and souls into believing they are worthy of becoming all they can and more. Throughout these years I nurtured my own little dreamer, Caleb and two more years later, Danny and Yazmine through the discovery of my one true love, Dan. We have our own home in Flagstone with two rescued fur babies – Reginald the Bull Terrier and Agatha the American Bulldog. We enjoy exploring on beach, bush walks, live bands and family catch ups.

My name is Shelli. I have been in Early Child Care on and off since 2013, in various age groups and positions. I pride myself in being an all-rounder and strive to support and nurture and understand your child’s needs, wants, and just moments of concern, and uncertainty. During the learning years of many children and many educators, we learn lots, we achieve lots, and we all do this how we want and with whatever learning tool works for us, everyone learns differently, and everyone is different, so bringing out your child’s individuality and being their own little person is super important to me. I feel honoured to have that opportunity to share in these stepping stones. As educators we have many different theorists and psychologists that we must utilise or share their learning habitats, but my favourite is – children are sponges, they will absorb everything from you – good, bad, educational, your mood, other people’s moods and so on.. It is rewarding to be able to give back to them, and watch them shine. I  have been in Australia for 9 years and have 3 years of working  with children. I am passionate about photography, drawing and little DIY projects. Also love gardening/plants. While I am new to the child care sector, I bring the invaluable experience of being a loving mother to a 5-year-old and an 8-month-old. I am passionate about creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to grow, learn,

My name is Maddi!  I’ve been working in childcare for just over 8 years now, I am currently studying my Batchelor of Early Childcare Teaching and will finish in December 2023 and look forward to implementing everything I have learned over the years! I am a mum to an energetic 18-month-old son, as well as a step mum to a five-year old boy. These two definitely keep me on my toes, but are also the reason I love working with children! I am a firm believer in play-based activities and also encourage children to embrace their creative sides. There is no right or wrong in the creative arts, children have a strong ability for imagination, and I look forward to bringing it to life and as Picasso says “Every Child is an Artist”.

I am cert 3 qualified in Early Childhood Education at TAFE QLD Brisbane. I love being an educator and have been for the past 6 years. I have always grown up around children and I think this is where my love for being around children has come from. I am a huge family person, having 4 children myself three girls and one hyperactive boy which makes me ready for anything and super calm in most situations. I love being creative as I also have my diploma in photography and love to share my creative side with the children and show it around the room. I am a very bright and happy person who always lovesa challenge. I have been working in childcare since 2014. My goals as an educator is to fill the child learning environment with fun and love. I want my class to have fun while exploring and learning many different skills that will develop their learning for their bright futures. I am always interested in parent’s opinions and new ideas.

Hello, my name is Jordan. I have been working at Little Gems since the beginning of January 2022 and I am studying my cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I am extremely thrilled that I’ve been given the opportunity to work within the Little Gems family and getting to know and meet the wonderful kids, parents, and guardians. I chose to work in childcare because I’ve always been interested in how a child’s mind works and how I can assist that child in a way that will suit their needs. I love spending time with children and seeing their amazing smiles and being a big part in their development and growth. As a kid I grew up around the water, I learnt to swim at a very young age. In my spare time I often go out to the beach with my family and friends. I enjoy swimming, body surfing and paddle boarding. I am looking forward to the amazing journey I have ahead of me and making new friendships within the Little Gems team and getting to know the parents, guardians, and children.
