Maddi – Educator – In Child Care Since 2018 –  Studying Diploma

Hello my name is Maddison, but you can call me Maddi. I have been in childcare for over a year now and have enjoyed every minute working with children, I am very excited to continue my journey here at Little Gems, as well as meet all the families. I am currently studying my Diploma of Early Childhood and Care at Tafe Queensland, and hope to be finished by before the end of year. I believe the early years in a child’s life is a crucial time for their development. These years are what makes your child the person they are meant to be. This is the time that they will develop their communication skills, their cognitive skills, and the ability to explore and use their imagination. I am a very strong believer in play based activities, as it gives the children the chance to extend on their ability to process ideas and bring them to life. I encourage children to express their opinions and thoughts and always support them to embrace their differences. I will make sure that I implement this everyday by building positive relationships with your children. It is important for the children to feel safe and cared for in the service, and they should always be reminded that they are important.

Lady Bugs – 15 Months to 2 Years

Juliet – Lead Educator – In Child Care Since 2013 – Diploma Qualified

Hello my name is Juliet. I have been working as a child care educator since 2013. I currently hold my certificate III and Diploma in child care. During my 4 years I’ve had the opportunity to be an assistant and group leader. I believe that children should have the structure and support to be whoever they want to be. This relies on the child care educators who look after them in their early years as they attend child care. With this learning is a big concept on how children learn including physical, cognitive, communication, social and emotional development. Therefore as a child care educator, my plan is to implement a safe, fun, positive and nurturing ongoing learning through different experiences. Security and trust I feel is a very important component with the relationship with the children. As a child care educator I will also provide an environment where the children feel loved and cared for. Children need to feel nurtured and know that they are safe. A bond can build between educator and children and that bond will also be positive.  With all children being unique in different ways, as an educator I will show and cater to all and every child’s needs and learning developments. Children are out future and as educators we should do what we can to assist them to be what they want to be. Having children feel that they are loved and that they belong.  For children to feel belonged they won’t be afraid to show their true colours. Children are amazing little humans who are so special and I’m privileged to be able to be part of their lives

Maddie –  Educator –  Years in Child Care 2016 – Certificate III Qualified

Hi my name is Maddie and I have my Certificate III in Children’s Services. I have worked with children since I was fresh out of high school and am very passionate about early education. I look forward to building a relationship with your family.

Bumble Bees – 2 Years to 3 Years

Tiff –  Lead Educator – In Child Care Since 2016 – Studying Diploma

Hi my name is Tiff. My goal as an early childhood educator is to inspire, motivate and guide your children during their time in our room. How do I plan to do this I hear you ask…. By creating magical, creative learning environments for your child to explore that are based around their interests. Encouraging them to try new and exciting experiences that will test their limits and keep them pushing their comfort zones. Lastly but most importantly showing your child that no matter what, I am here for them when they’re scared, happy, frustrated or confused. I am currently studying my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and when I’m not hitting the books I am having real life training while raising my three energetic children that teach me endless lessons each and every day. As an educator I look for inspiration through people that have shaped my life: Walt Disney- “Our Greatest natural resource is in the minds of our children”. Albert Einstein – “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” Maria Montessori – “Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.” I look forward to getting to know your family and children during our journey of learning together.

Shelli – Educator – In Child Care Since 2013 – Certificate III Qualified

My name is Shelli. I have been in Early Child Care on and off since 2013, in various age groups and positions. I pride myself in being an all-rounder and strive to support and nurture and understand your child’s needs, wants, and just moments of concern, and uncertainty. During the learning years of many children and many educators, we learn lots, we achieve lots, and we all do this how we want and with whatever learning tool works for us, everyone learns differently, and everyone is different, so bringing out your child’s individuality and being their own little person is super important to me. I feel honoured to have that opportunity to share in these stepping stones. As educators we have many different theorists and psychologists that we must utilise or share their learning habitats, but my favourite is – children are sponges, they will absorb everything from you – good, bad, educational, your mood, other people’s moods and so on.. It is rewarding to be able to give back to them, and watch them shine. Please feel free to introduce yourself to me and I will do the same, I am looking forward to working in a great new busy environment.

Debbie – Lead Educator – In Child Care Since 2009 – Certificate III Qualified, Studying Diploma

My name is Debbie and I have two teenage boys, one husband, three cats and one puppy dog, so my house is rather chaotic at times! I have been in childcare since 2009 when my youngest child started school. It was a big career change, as I had spent 15 years working in Property Management, but I feel that I have truly found my purpose in Childcare and Early Education. I have been working with Dorette for about since 2015 and thoroughly enjoy our days, however crazy it can be!  We work well together and share the same passion and philosophy with regards to our “babies” and endeavour to give them the love, comfort and encouragement they need. We are excited to get to know your children and your family and look forward to being a part of your child’s learning journey

Tash –  Educator – In Child Care Since 2013 – Studying Diploma

My name is Natasha, but you can call me Tash. I have been working in childcare since 2013, and currently studying my Diploma in Early Childhood. Before working in childcare, I was working as an administration assistant at Sarina Russo Schools in Brisbane city. I live with my partner and we have a 6-month-old son together. I’m a country girl, and on the weekend’s we are mostly at our mate’s farm helping. I believe children are capable and competent learners, that learn through play. I will provide children the opportunity to explore, discover, create and imagine. The environment plays a major role in the success of the program. The program enhances the children’s interests in all developmental domains. In planning my program, I will provide developmentally appropriate activities where children are able to have the opportunity to master new challenges through activities that are meaningful to them. This will help the children build their self-esteem and to become more confident in themselves. Looking forward to teaching all your children throughout the year 😊

Rebeka – Early Childhood Teacher – In Child Care Since 2018 – Studying Bachelor

Hi my name is Rebeka but you can call me Bek. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Primary Education majoring in Early Childhood at Griffith University; I am due to complete my degree mid-2021. I began my journey in the Education Industry in 2017 as an Outside School Care (OSHC) Lead Educator. During my time in the school setting, I also did relief work in the Kindergarten. In my previous role and studies, I have been able to formulate my own philosophy in relation to Education and Teaching. I believe that children are unique individuals with their own ideas and values. Therefore, as an Educators I believe it is my role to provide them with stimulating and exciting play-based opportunities that help extend their knowledge. I aim to do this by creating a safe environment where they feel valued, nurtured, and supported. I believe it is important in the Early Childhood setting children feel like it is a home away from home and are enthusiastic to come each day. I love the Kindergarten age groups as they are learning so much about the world around them but are also becoming confident and competent little learners.  I also value the relationships with my families, I acknowledge that parents are the first most influential factor in children’s development, so it is my goal to work alongside the families and freely communicate in order to see the children develop. Outside of work I love going camping and being outdoors. To me, nothing beats family and I am fortunate enough to have a large one so in my spare time I love being able to catch up with them. I am excited to form strong relationships with the children and cannot wait to watch them grow and develop throughout the remainder of the year.

Nicola –  Educator – In Child Care Since 2018 – Studying Diploma

My name is Nicola and I have my Certificate III in Education Support and am currently studying my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. I started working with school aged children as a teacher aide in 2016, and towards the end of 2016, started work at Jimboomba outside school hour’s care up until now. To me there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a young child develop both physically and mentally in front of your own eyes. This was the most amazing thing to watch while I worked at the school as I watched the Preps from their very first day of school to the very last day. This is why I have taken on studying my Diploma. Watching children grow into their little personalities is truly the best thing to watch. I myself am a mother of 2. My children have taught me to be patient, nurturing, caring and have brought out the inner child in myself. As an educator in the room, I endeavour to be all of this and more. To provide a happy and inviting environment full of laughter and play. To let your children explore their surroundings. But to also let them teach me of how they think, engage and develop both physically and mentally. “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” Walt Disney. I look forward to getting to know all our families over the next few weeks and am excited to spend time with all the children.

Leah –  Educator –  In Child Care Since 2001 – Diploma Qualified

Hello, My name is Leah and I have been working in the Child Care and Education Industry since 2001, in both Queensland and New South Wales, within Child Care Centres and as a Private Nanny and hold my Diploma in Children’s Services. When I am not working I enjoy going on Road Trips, Camping, Music – listening to and watching LIVE, Photography, and spending time with friends. In relation to children’s education and care, I believe: That children have the right to learn in a safe, secure, and supportive environment to become independent, resilient, and have the capability to interact positively with others. In the importance of children feeling a sense of belonging within the Centre, that children become aware of, and contribute to, the importance of showing respect for their environment, peers, and educators. In children becoming strong in their social and emotional well-being, and taking responsibility for their own health and well-being. In children learning through curiosity and imaginative play to develop problem solving skills, adapting things from outside the Centre to their play in care, by connecting positively with peers and educators. That children’s verbal and non-verbal communication is important to be acknowledged equally as their form of expressing feelings and ideas. That all children are individual, and such are treated as individuals. Children learn through play, and to help achieve this, I aim to provide a safe and stimulating environment that is age appropriate. Play based learning is developed through child initiated and educator activities, where experiences are extended upon appropriately to further develop the children’s interests and skills. In providing a flexible routine for children to grow, learn, and explore their environment. That supporting families and having continuous communication is important to remain up to date with family affairs, changes to circumstances, and development issues that families wish to address.
