My name is Hayley I am the Director for Little Gems. I have been working within the childcare industry since 2003. I hold a Diploma of Children’s Services and worked in a variety of roles before coming a Director. I am a mother of three children, Cooper and Ruby who attend Albany Hills state school and my youngest attends the centre with me. I feel very lucky that I am in a profession that allows me to see my children throughout the day whilst giving me job satisfaction. I think I will always be a country girl at heart growing up in Katherine in the Northern Territory. In my spare time you will find me hanging out with my family, and if I am really lucky getting stuck in to a sewing project. Patchwork quilts are my passion. My name is Jaime and I am the Assistant Director here at Little Gems. I started at Little Gems in February 2013 and that’s when I began my journey and started studying my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and then went on to do my Diploma in Children’s Services. I am a sister of three, Ashleigh my older sister who also works here at Little Gems and a younger sister Libby. I have lived in Brisbane my whole life and I love this area. I live with my family and our family of Chihuahuas. I must say I love watching the development of each and every child’s learning journey. It is truly amazing to watch children grow and develop as they get older. I’m an easy going, trustful and respectful person and I’m always willing to take on board any advice given to me.

My name is Anne and I am one of the Lead Educator at Little Gems. I have been working at the centre since it opened in January 2007, spending most of the time in the younger rooms. I completed by Certificate III in Children’s Services in 2009 and my Diploma in Children’s Services in July 2012. I have worked with children my entire working life and find the vocation both challenging and rewarding. On a more personal level I have two girls, both grown and working; one in childcare as well, and the other in retail. In 2016 I was blessed with a beautiful grandson, Carter, who I just adore. I believe family and friends are the most important part of life and I try to spend as much time with them as I can. I am looking forward to caring for your child and getting to know you.

Hello, My name is Maddy and I’m currently studying my Diploma in Crime and Justice Studies. I recently graduated from Mt St Michael’s College in 2018, completing my Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care. I attended Little Gems in 2018 on placement whilst studying, and was fortunate enough to be offered a position to work casually when my placement came to an end. I was so excited to start my journey working at Little Gems as I love caring for children and seeing them develop. Helping others, particularly children is my passion which is why I intend on working to protect and help families to enhance their well-being. My name is Emma. I studied my diploma of Early Childhood and Care with ASMI and completed it in 2018. I have two children, Luca and Evelyn. I believe in “Learning is knowledge and knowledge is power”. By giving children the best teachings, safety and nurturing, it will enable them to reach for their dreams. I have always had a passion for working with children; but one little girl, Izzy gave me direction in wanting to give children of all development levels and special needs the opportunity to strive in mainstream schooling. My name is Amy and I am a Lead Educator and the centres Educational Leader. I have been working within this centre since February 2012. I finished my Certificate III in 2010 and completed my Diploma in Children Services in 2014. I love the challenge of learning more about the childcare industry. My interest in childcare happened when my nephew was born in 2009. He made me became more and more interested in how children grow and learn new things. I wanted to be part of that learning experience and to help children learn and develop important life skills. In my spare time you would find me scrapbooking, painting, taking photographs or photo editing, reading, spending time with my husband and playing with my puppies Sookie, Simba and Sadie and my birds Zazu and Lolly. I have also completed my certificate III in children’s services. My interests are Observing Children and how they play and develop. My hobbies are cooking/baking and spending time with my family and friends. My personal Philosophy is that I believe all children have the right to have a safe, loving environment that allows them to explore their world in Independence. I believe that there is no child that is exactly the same and that is what makes a child unique and an individual.

My name is Rosa. I have been working at Little Gems since 2013. I started off as the ECT for the centre but as my child got older I found that my passion was working with the younger children. I have both my Bachelor of Education degree (Primary) and Diploma in children services. I have always loved working with children regardless of what age. I have enjoyed just being in their presence, talking to them, listening to the conversations between children, observing their play, seeing their imaginations come alive, being part of their lives and seeing their eyes light up when they discover something new or when they have mastered something they have tried so long and hard to do. My name is Anne and I have been working at the centre since 2007 when it first opened. I am originally from Wellington, New Zealand and I enjoy going back to New Zealand on occasion to see my family, though they all live in Auckland. I come from a relatively large family with three brothers and a sister, most whom have married and have their own children. I have been married to Travis since 2007 also, we have no two legged children but one beautiful four legged Boxer called Jazz. I have been working in the early childhood field ever since I left school in 1989. I went to the Wellington Collage of Education where I successfully completed my Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood Education. In all this time I have discovered my passion lies in the under 4’s. I love fostering and supporting a child’s independence. In the room I aim to be co-constructor of knowledge with the toddlers, working alongside them in their learning journey. I understand Toddlers to be focused on the here and now, impulsive, energetic, determined and they like to gain control over their world by testing limits. I look forward to getting to know you all.

My name is Tina and I have a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and obtained my Diploma in 2017. I have always loved being around children, watching and assisting children explore and investigate their world and seeing them develop into their own person. As an Educator I am able to be a part of children’s every day learning and development, sharing their early years watching them grow and develop important life skills. I am married to Mark and I have 5 beautiful children. I love to travel, I have been to Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Vanuatu and I look forward to doing a lot more travel in the future. I have always wanted to work in childcare and I was lucky enough to be provided with the opportunity to work here at Little Gems. I began working at Little Gems at the beginning of 2016 and I have loved every second. I love watching children grow and learn, becoming kind young people, this is also why I’m studying a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education at University of Queensland, to help children learn and grow into young adults. I have always loved to be around children which is why I feel childcare is the perfect industry for me until I finish my degree. Within my time here at Little Gems I had Maternity leave to raise my son Chayse. Chayse is thrilled to be able to spend two days a week at the service where he will be able to learn and grow with friends. This year I will be returning as a Support Educator to help everyone with their daily needs. I have always had a passion for Early Years Education and I’m so excited to continue to support and encourage all our little learners to become the super stars they are! My name is Aggie and I work as a Centre Support Educator at Little Gems and I have worked at a retirement village where I was a housekeeper to the elderly since 2000 to 2018. I find if I’m in the sand pit then most of the children are alongside me. I have two adult children; a daughter who is a teacher. On the days I’m not working here at Little gems I’m either home playing with my black cat Geoffrey, or I am out with some friends driving around having picnics and watching the sunset. Some of my hobbies are photography, my favourite thing to take photos of are flowers. I love to sing and dance to my favourite songs in the car. Hi my name is Moira I am currently studying my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and I am thoroughly enjoying the experiences and anticipate a lengthy future within the industry. I have traveled to a few different countries to do volunteer work teaching English as a second language as I have completed my TESOL course which is how I came to be interested in Education and Childcare. I find working within Education extremely rewarding, stimulating and challenging and hope to have perpetually growing career within the industry.
